Tribe Reports 2 New COVID-19 Cases: 2 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s COVID-19 Response Team reported 2 new positive cases over the weekend in the southern portion of Akwesasne. The new cases include community members over the age of 18 years and are the only active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. The low case count is encouraging and we ask individuals to please continue to protect yourself against COVID-19 by choosing to be vaccinated.

Due to the low case count and reduced staffing, the Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is providing notification that the availability of COVID-19 testing at its facility will be reduced in the near future. Please watch for an announcement that will indicate the change.

With the Tribe’s Mask Mandate rescinded earlier this month; a friendly reminder is being provided that masks are still encouraged, but no longer required at many public places -- though local businesses have the discretion to implement their own policies and masks are still required to be worn at health care facilities, congregate settings, group homes, and other operations due to tribal and federal regulations.

We extend our appreciation for your cooperation and ask that you please respect an individual’s choice to wear a mask or not.
