Summary: Assist the Capital Project Manager to plan, direct, oversee, coordinate, inspect materials and report activities of designated construction project(s) to ensure that the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s interests, goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed schedule and budget and according to contract documents.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Assist design professionals and supervisor to review project proposal(s) and plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures to accomplish project, and allotment of available resources for various phases of project.
  • Attend meetings with contractor(s) regarding project progress and requirements, funding requirements, Tribal policies that relate to project, and overall expectations.
  • Assist with request(s) or approval(s) for amendments to or extensions of contracts by helping architect, contractor and Tribal personnel prepare and evaluate change orders.
  • Study contract documents, architectural drawings and specifications in order to maintain familiarity with project.
  • Conduct daily on-site observations and progress inspections to determine conformance of work, materials and equipment with contract documents, including safety standards.
  • Ensure tests required by the contract documents are appropriately performed and observed.
  • Assist with schedule, complete daily inspection reports, attend weekly and/or bi­ weekly meetings, and report project progress to supervisors.
  • Help contractor(s) and design professionals to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints and construction problems.
  • Review contractor's applications for payment with design professionals and supervisor.
  • Assist contractor(s) with collection of warranties, certificates and maintenance operation manuals at project close out phase for review by design professional.
  • Serve as a liaison between the contractor, supervisor and design professionals; maintain a professional relationship with each.
  • Comply with Federal, State and Tribal contract requirements by studying existing requirements, enforce adherence to and advise management on potential violations. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

 

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Due to the sensitive nature of information obtained, must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

  • Ability to perform daily on-site duties for a major construction project through all phases of construction.
  • Ability to interpret and understand AIA contracts, drawings and similar construction documents.
  • Familiarity with construction management software, general computer software programs, construction materials, means and methods.
  • Working knowledge of building materials, components, systems and quality standards.

 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Associates degree from a two-year college. 

Or 

  • Diploma from a certified trade school in a related field And
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in the development and implementation of construction projects;

Or 

  • Five years’ work experience in a capacity such as clerk of the works, foreman, site superintendent or project manager.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience in a related field may be considered.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have basic computer skills including Word, Procore, Excel, and Outlook. Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
