Summary: The Court Coordinator will be directly responsible to the Chief Judge of the Court. This person has authority to execute duties delegated by the Chief Judge of the Court, for the Court, to ensure the Courts policies and procedures are followed. These duties include, but are not limited to, docket management, court staff coordination, and monitoring and managing Court activities, which assist the Chief Judge in judicial, non-judicial and administrative matters.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Prepares, maintains and coordinates the court's daily docket and Court activities.
  • Conducts and attends status conferences, settlement hearings, dispositions and final hearings as requested by the Court.
  • Schedules court dates for parties.
  • Appoints attorneys, guardian ad litem, or attorney for child upon request for cases before the court.
  • Monitors court mail; resolves or directs to appropriate department or person.
  • Orders jury panel for cases; makes meal arrangements as necessary for jurors.
  • Arranges and coordinates mediation services.
  • Schedules settlement hearings, trials before the court, discovery motions, motions to compel, and motions for sanction.
  • Handles jurors’ excuses, resets and inquiries in accordance with the policies of the court.
  • Coordinates court staff to ensure filings and court calendar are complete and ready for court proceedings.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes, this position supervises the law clerks.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates in related field, AND
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience working directly in a court (i.e., clerk, law clerk)

OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • One (1) year prior supervisory experience preferred.  

 

Other Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases.
  • Ability to identify problems, and advise and address with little supervision from the Court.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies acting as a representative of the Court.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must possess knowledge of how cases move through the respective court. The coordinator must possess an understanding of techniques of docket management, case control, and day-to-day monitoring of matters pending to the court.
  • Must be able to assess the court’s workload, categorize the elements of this workload, and develop long-range plans to assure that the court disposes of cases in a timely, efficient manner. 

 

The successful candidate must pass a drug test and PL 101-630 background check prior to employment.
