SUMMARY:  The Dental Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, organized, and efficient dental office environment. This position is responsible for patient scheduling, front‑desk operations, basic billing support, and administrative coordination to ensure smooth daily practice operations.

 

Mandated Reporter: Must become a mandated reporter and maintain that status throughout employment. This includes completing any necessary training and adhering to all reporting obligations as defined by applicable laws and tribal policies.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Patient Relations

Greet patients warmly and professionally, in person and by phone

  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments
  • Manage patient check‑in and check‑out processes
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding services, appointments, and office policies
  • Manage laboratory cases.      Confirm lab cases are present the day before patient arrives

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence
  • Manage office calendar and daily schedules
  • Utilize One Call Now system to send reminder phone calls out

Insurance & Referral Support

  • Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Submit and track referrals as needed
  • Assist patients with referral related questions
  • Track and document referral follow through and completion
  • Coordinate regularly with Referral Specialists in business office

Office Support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office area
  • Support the dental team with general administrative tasks
  • Assist the RDF /Dentist with Health fair planning, set up and presentations as assigned by the Dental Program Manager.
  • Accept other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED;

AND

  • 1-year experience in medical office or office environment.

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1-year work experience in a dental office PREFERRED.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases. CPR/First Aid certified or willing to be certified within the first three months of work. Must be punctual.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.
