Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Judge, the Grant Coordinator oversees the financial and administrative management of Tribal Court grants and funding. This position is responsible for budgeting, compliance, monitoring, reporting, and strategic financial planning to ensure all funds are managed in accordance with applicable laws and funding requirements. The Grant Coordinator also researches and pursues new funding opportunities to support the Judicial Branch’s goals and assists with special projects as assigned. Strong oral and written skills required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Grant Administration: Manage the full lifecycle of multiple grants from award through closeout. Ensure compliance with federal, state, Tribal, and private funding requirements. Prepare and submit timely narrative and financial reports, and serve as primary liaison for grant-related communications.
- Budget & Financial Oversight: Develop and monitor grant and program budgets in coordination with Tribal Finance. Track expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets. Prepare budget forecasts, modifications, and variance analyses. Assist in preparation of the Court’s annual budget.
- Funding Development: Identify and pursue new funding opportunities. Prepare and coordinate grant applications, including narrative drafting and supporting documentation.
- Monitoring & Compliance: Track performance measures and ensure program objectives are met. Conduct internal reviews to promote accountability and audit readiness.
- Coordination & Support: Provide guidance to court staff on grant and budget requirements. Collaborate with Tribal departments and external partners. Assist with special projects and long-term planning initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

Education and/or Experience:
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, Nonprofit Management, Law, or related field WITH
- Two (2) years’ experience in grant administration, compliance, or program management; AND
- Two (2) years’ experience with budgeting, reporting, and financial tracking and Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Two (2) years’ experience managing federal, state, or Tribal grant funds. Preferred
PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, Nonprofit Management, Law, or related field; WITH
- Two (2) years’ experience in grant administration, compliance, or program management; AND
- Two (2) years’ experience with budgeting, reporting, and financial tracking and Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Two (2) years’ experience managing federal, state, or Tribal grant funds. Preferred
Other Skills and Abilities: Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.
- Knowledge of federal grant compliance (2 CFR Part 200 – Uniform Guidance).
- Experience in Tribal government, court systems, or public sector.
- Familiarity with procurement rules and sole-source justifications.
- Experience with SAM.gov, Grants.gov, or similar platforms.
Experience preparing for audits or monitoring reviews.
