Summary: 

Under the direction of the Waiver Manager, the IRA Supervisor Team One is responsible for working with the Waiver Manager in developing and implementing program policies and procedures for the Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) home. The IRA Supervisor Team One will assist in developing and overseeing program budgets and will provide direct supervision, support, and guidance to a team of DSPs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Supervise direct support personnel assigned to Team One by the Waiver Manager.
  • Interview, recruit, or hire employees.
  • Observes workers to evaluate performance and ensure work meets established standards.
  • Instructs, trains, and coordinates agency staff or volunteers in skills required to provide services and ensures adequate coverage for the operation of the home.
  • Confers with IRA employees, consultant staff, Care Managers, and other agency staff, as well as the individuals to determine programming needs.
  • At all times, serves as an active and integral member of a multi-disciplinary team with a complete focus to meet program needs and enhance the quality of services provided to the individuals we serve.
  • Records pertinent information with regard to personnel and individual programming.
  • Coordinate, implement, and monitor individual’s individualized service plan. Ensure adequate documentation of services for billing purposes.
  • Participate in IRA activities to ensure that individuals develop good socialization skills and to ensure community integration and inclusion through planned recreational activities.   
  • Inspect the IRA physical plan monthly and document compliance with emergency preparedness plans, fire safety, and all other life safety codes.
  • Communicate any concerns with regard to the operation of the IRA to the Waiver Manager and work cooperatively to achieve a resolution.
  • Report all incidents, unusual occurrences, accidents, or illnesses to the DSP Manager and document in the required format.
  • Ensure program compliance with OPWDD IRA regulations and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe policies and procedures
  • Maintain close, daily contact with the Waiver Manager to interpret and explain the organizational mission, Division objectives, and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.
  • This position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work hours.
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

Mandated Reporter: Must become a mandated reporter prior to having contact with individuals with developmental and or intellectual disabilities in a job-related capacity and maintain that status throughout employment. This includes completing any necessary training and adhering to all reporting obligations as defined by applicable laws and tribal policies. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: The IRA Supervisor for Team One is responsible for the daily supervision of a team of Direct Support Professionals. This includes scheduling, activity planning, providing staff with direct supervision during the course of service delivery, and other tasks associated with the daily operation of the IRA house.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field AND
    • Three (3) years of documented work experience in the field of developmental disabilities, mental health, or related field 

OR 

  • Equivalent experience/education, supervisory experience preferred. 

 

Successfully obtain all required certifications to provide initial and annual training

 

Other Skills and Abilities: A strong understanding of computer use, particularly with regard to electronic documentation.  Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and experience with varying databases. Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.

 

This position mandates employees to report to or remain at work in the event of an emergency, crisis situation, or staff shortage until relieved by their immediate supervisor

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Possession of a valid State Driver's License in accordance with Fleet Policy.
