Summary:  Under the direction of the Lead Safe Home/Visitation & Exchange Monitor, the Safe Home/Visitation & Exchange Monitoris responsible for providing trauma-informed support services to residents of the program’s confidential safe home shelter who are victims of domestic violence as well as clients participating in supervised visitation and exchanges. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

 

  • Complete shelter, supervised visitation, and safe exchange screening, intake and exit procedures.
  • Monitor shelter activities to maintain a safe and supportive shelter atmosphere, as well as assist shelter residents with life skills, parenting skills, and other skills to prepare them for discharge.
  • Participate in team review meetings, as needed, to provide status updates to the Lead Safe Home/Visitation & Exchange Monitor to insure effective communication and collaboration between the staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Three Sisters Advocates to ensure person-centered service delivery to clients.
  • Communicate any concerns with regard to operation of the Safe House and or Supervised Visitation & Exchange Program to the Lead Safe Home/Visitation & Exchange Monitor and work cooperatively to achieve resolution.
  • Communicate with callers, shelter residents and staff in a manner that reflects respect, equality, and trauma-informed practices among all individuals.
  • Provide services for court ordered Supervised Visitation and safe exchanges between parents and children under the direction of the Lead Safe Home/Visitation & Exchange Monitor.
  • Monitoring of the safety of participants during visitation and suspend or terminate any visit in which the safety of the participants cannot be maintained in accordance with policies.
  • Provide transportation for clients, as needed.
  • Complete required visitation/exchange paperwork in a timely, accurate, objective, and confidential manner.
  • Timely and confidential recordkeeping, including detailed case note documentation, monthly reports, and all other required reports as assigned.
  • Assist in the cleaning and upkeep of the shelter, as well as gardening in the summer months.
  • Assist in the inventory of food, hygiene products, and household items, as well as shopping for these items and turning in receipts in accordance with policy.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate training and certifications per the CAP Program Manager’s staff training plan.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to job-related trainings, conferences and meetings.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Conduct all work in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures of the shelter and of the Community Advocacy Program.

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

 

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED AND
    • One (1) years’ experience in Human Services or a related field OR

OR

  • Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field.
     
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with trauma survivors preferred.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe. This position mandates employees to report to or remain at work in the event of an emergency, crisis situation, or staff shortage until relieved by their immediate supervisor. 

 

Required to report suspected child abuse or maltreatment when reasonable cause to suspect that a child is an abused or maltreated child where the parent or guardian, custodian, or other person legally responsible for such child, information come before you, facts, condition, or circumstance which if correct, would render the child an abused or maltreated child. 

 

Reasoning Abilities: Ability to express ideas and use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Must exercise good judgment when responding to stressful or crisis situations. 

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
