SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Community Advocacy Program (CAP) Program Manager, the Lead Security Guard is responsible to maintain a safe and secure environment for the Safe Home Residents and staff by patrolling and monitoring the building premises and grounds.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Secure property and premises by patrolling; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
  • Provide secondary monitoring of supervised visits via the surveillance system.
  • Controlling the entrance and departure of employees, visitors and vehicles according to protocols.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Monitor the activity of Safe Home residents and respond to resident needs when Safe Home Monitors are not on shift.
  • Call police or fire department in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Provide detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management.
  • Review logbook and other communication systems daily to keep informed of issues.
  • Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, provide information during non- business hours, accept after-hours crisis calls, and, when necessary, contact the on-call advocate for situations requiring immediate attention.
  • Presents him/herself in a ready, alert, neat, properly groomed, and professional manner at all times when formally representing the Community Advocacy Program.
  • Enforce program rules uniformly and consistently.
  • Respond appropriately to needs and crisis situations, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between residents and summoning emergency and/or on-call personnel.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate training and certifications per the CAP Program Manager’s staff
  • training plan, including training in domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Due to the sensitive nature of information, must maintain strict confidentiality of the location of the Safe House and the identity of its residents at all times.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts, including evening or overnight shifts.
  • Must have own reliable transportation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to job-related trainings, conferences and meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

MANDATED REPORTER: Must become a mandated reporter prior to having contact with children in a job-related capacity and maintain that status throughout employment. This includes completing any necessary training and adhering to all reporting obligations as defined by applicable laws and tribal policies.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory requirements for this position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED;
    • Minimum one year of experience as a security guard preferred;
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with trauma survivors preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe. This position mandates employees to report to or remain at work in the event of an emergency, crisis situation, or staff shortage until relieved by their immediate supervisor.

 

REASONING ABILITIES: Ability to express ideas and use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Must exercise good judgment when responding to stressful or crisis situations.
