SUMMARY: The Surveillance Technician will analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate the independent surveillance network to improve and maintain the organization’s surveillance system. The Surveillance Technician also performs surveillance network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This position may require work on different shifts and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Below is a list of the responsibilities of the Surveillance Technician:
- Responsible for a reliable surveillance network, hardware, and software at all times.
- Responsible for the installation, configuration, networking, and ongoing maintenance of CCTV cameras, network switches, access control systems, and all supporting components to ensure reliable and secure operations.
- Maintains proper operation of CCTV and Access Control Systems at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, Mohawk Bingo Palace, Casino Administrative Building, Warehouse and any other site as required.
- Ensures all surveillance network workstations have proper applications and are operational.
- Maintains and administers a preventative maintenance on all Surveillance equipment as required by equipment maintenance and applicable regulations.
- Works with Surveillance management to plan and administer future surveillance requests.
- Responds to equipment failures and rectifies malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Provides training to supervisors and operators in all aspects of end-user duties and general knowledge of system applications.
- Ensures proper inventory of equipment.
- Ensures that all operating systems software is upgraded as required and current.
- Knowledgeable of all Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and SAIC’s of the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, Tribal-State Compact and Tribal Internal Control Standards and remains current on amendments and changes.
- Expert networking capabilities, diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems.
- Back-up and maintain surveillance data as required.
- Responsible to safeguards the assets of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
- Implement, and analyze network support strategies, polices, and plans of action.
- Program, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Installs, tests, and maintains hardware and software; analyzes network performance, utility, and availability.
- Develop, implement, and analyze security measures for computer or information systems.
- Ensure construction and maintenance of all gaming facilities and the operation of all activities is conducted in a manner that adequately protects the environment and public health and safety of all individuals.
- Provides network, software, and hardware support to all Surveillance employees.
- Climb ladders and use lift machines to install, maintain or inspect equipment.
- Install wires between components and connecting to surveillance network.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisor responsibilities for this position.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed.
- Must obtain and maintain a Class III occupational gaming license issued from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE. Below is a list of the requirements for education and/or experience for the Surveillance Technician:
- High school diploma or GED required WITH
- a minimum 2 years of related experience.
PREFERRED
- Certificate in fiber optic installation and video management.
- Experience in a related field.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES. Below is a list of knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position:
- Advanced Knowledge of Computers & Networking: Advanced knowledge of hardware, surveillance network infrastructure, and computing applications.
- Active Listening Skills: Must have active listening skills with elevated levels of empathy to ensure remedy of surveillance network issues.
- Independent Thought and Action Skills: The skill to work independently, making sound decisions and acting upon them.
- Ability to Problem Sensitivity: Ability to recognize and diagnose when there is an issue or problem.
- Certification. Must be able and certified to operate lift equipment.
- Ability to safely lift and move items weighing at least 75 pounds.
- Must be able to safely climb, descend and maintain balance on ladders up to 25 feet in height while carrying necessary tools or equipment.
Reasoning Ability:
- Problem-Solving Equipment Issues: Analyze surveillance system malfunctions and determine the most effective solution to restore full operation quickly.
- Incident Analysis: Review recorded footage to identify patterns, detect suspicious activity, and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
- Decision-Making for Network Upgrades: Assess current network performance and recommend hardware or software upgrades to optimize surveillance reliability and security.
The successful candidate must pass a test for illegal substances and obtain and maintain an occupational gaming license determined by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission prior to employment being confirmed.
