Summary: Actively support and uphold the delegated Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s mission and values. Shall serve the community with; the outmost positive attitude, maintain a level of professionalism, being courtesy, demonstrate appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with the business community, co-workers and other departments of the Tribe. Maintains the confidentiality and safekeeping of official documents and any business statistics, information shared to assistance in the any of the following assigned duties;
Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensuring all interactions between the Tribally Licensed and Tribally Registered Business are recorded and responded to.
- Create a monthly report for Tribal Council on how complaints, concerns, and suggestions have been dealt with.
- Facilitate communication between the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council and the SRMT Programs and external tribal licensed business partners to ensure alignment on projects and initiatives.
- Represent the Tribe and/or licensed business at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Liaison daily with SRMT Tribal Licensed or Registered Business to make sure their concerns are heard and dealt with.
- Oversee the integration of new business promotions that will be used to highlight Tribally licensed or registered business in Akwesasne.
- Facilitate meetings for a Business Liaison team in partnership with the business community, providing guidance on best practices and professional development opportunities.
- Collect data from collected information and with all Tribally Licensed or Registered businesses to draft custom reports summarizing business, financial, and/or economic data for review by Tribal Council and/or the Economic Development Office.
- Communicates (verbal and written) well to get information back to intended parties in a timely manner
- Foster a working relationship with all of the area business people, including, owners, managers and front-line employees
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align interests, support collaborative decision‑making, and ensure project objectives are achieved, including the development of programs and initiatives that attract visitors and strengthen community engagement.
- Address potential conflicts through proactive communication and empathy, creating a collaborative atmosphere conducive to mutual achievements.
- Create vibrant and engaging events with community businesses and partners through cultural and artistic community partnerships and events.
- Work with the SRMT Economic Development mediating diverse priorities and viewpoints, the Business Liaison steers groups towards unified action and collective success, ensuring project alignment with broader organizational objectives.
- Pinpoint opportunities for expansion or investment, through diligent analysis of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor actions.
- Develop or find a system that collects data that can be used to make decisions in the best interest of all parties.
- Communicate how Tribally licensed businesses can better perform and market themselves and Akwesasne, by setting long-term objectives and outlining steps to achieve them
- Perform other assigned duties when applicable during the course of a business day
Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. This position requires a mature, knowledgeable person who must maintain the utmost form of confidentiality. Ability to learn quickly; have great computer knowledge; possess skills and abilities to function professionally in any situation, have good verbal and writing skills. The individual must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree or certification from college or technical school in business administration, Communications or a related field; AND
- 2 years related experience and/or training,
OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience is acknowledged;
Skills and Abilities:
- Have good verbal and written skills to maintain records of contacts between the SRMT Business Liaison and responding parties.
- Be able to articulate knowledge with the public. Interactions are at the heart of this role, requiring a high level of engagement with both internal teams and external licensed businesses.
- The workspace supports both focused individual work and collaborative efforts.
- The pace can be fast, driven by project timelines and licensed business partnership developments, making adaptability and stress management crucial skills.
- Available to work other non-traditional hours (8am-5pm) when assigned as the successful candidate will participate with various groups within Akwesasne and the Region i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Akwesasne Coalition
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
The successful candidate must pass a drug test and background check prior to employment.
