Summary: Under the direction of the Employment and Training Services Manager, the Workforce Support Specialist is responsible providing assistance to the development, coordination and design of services to improve employment and self-sufficiency outcomes for clients. The Workforce Support Specialist will work in a multi-disciplinary Division regarding the development, implementation, and coordination of educational services for individuals, couples, students, and/or families; with a focus on employment and training related services under the P.L. 102-477 plan and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe priorities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Provide timely administrative and clerical support on behalf clients and the Education Division to ensure smooth operations.
  • Complete Tribal Learning Assistance Program client intakes, updates, progress monitoring and referrals, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with P.L. 102-477 plan eligibility and case management standards.
  • Collaborate efforts to increase awareness about the services, programs and opportunities available to the community through various forms of communication.
  • Orient client about the P.L. 102-477 services that are available through the Education Division, in addition to explaining the policies and guidelines in a way that is easily understood by the client.
  • Assist with the design, plan, and organization of programs for employers or clients.
  • Assist with the recruitment, and placement and funding of training program participants.
  • Assist with development of training and employment procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
  • Perform file and database audits, ensuring all information is up-to-date and entered for accurate reporting.
  • Practice principles of teamwork and cooperation by collaborating with other professionals and programs in order to better serve our client population.
  • Help clients navigate training and employment opportunities.
  • Accurately enter client progress and achievements, and labor-market information in databases for reports and audits, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Establish and maintain effective and healthy working relationships with others, including staff, families, and community members who may be under distress or duress.
  • Will assist in maintaining a safe working place in the office environment.
  • Promote a positive image of Education Division through healthy relationships with the community members, professionals, families and individuals served by the program.

  • Working knowledge of all services, staff, and client-based resources that are offered throughout Akwesasne and surrounding areas;

  • Must exhibit professional demeanor at all times.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications, Google Applications, and keyboarding skills.

 

Education and/or Experience: 

PREFERRED

  • Associates degree (A.A.) from a two-year College or University in Education, Business, or Human Services or related field WITH

    • One (1) year of professional experience.

    OR

  • High School graduate or equivalent WITH
    • Two (2) years of professional experience working in Education, Employment or Human Services field.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: Effective oral and written communication skills. High motivation for self and others. Basic knowledge of educational programs and operations. Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.  Exhibit compassion and sensitivity toward each client’s socio, economic, cultural, religious, and preferential background.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
