Summary: Under the direction of the Employment and Training Services Manager, the Workforce Support Specialist is responsible providing assistance to the development, coordination and design of services to improve employment and self-sufficiency outcomes for clients. The Workforce Support Specialist will work in a multi-disciplinary Division regarding the development, implementation, and coordination of educational services for individuals, couples, students, and/or families; with a focus on employment and training related services under the P.L. 102-477 plan and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe priorities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

 

  • Conduct Employment and Training service eligibility, updates, progress monitoring and referrals, ensuring compliance with the P.L. 102-477 plan and case management standards.
  • Assist clients in creating career-related documents and navigate training and employment opportunities.
  • Manage financial requests on behalf of clients to support employment goals.
  • Assist with program development, standards and organization for employers and clients.
  • Orient clients and community to Education Division P.L. 102-477 services by clearly explaining policies and guidelines in a positive manner.
  • Organize and implement activities to enhance client employability.
  • Perform file audits while maintaining accurate records, ensuring all information is current and accurate for reporting.
  • Practice principles of teamwork by building strong relationships with internal and external programs, schools, organizations, and agencies as they would best serve our client needs.
  • Support recruitment efforts of employers to fill employee needs or rosters for workshops/trainings.
  • Establish and maintain effective positive relationships with others, including staff, family members, and individuals in distress.
  • Assist in ensuring a safe and positive office environment.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Mandated Reporter: Must become a mandated reporter prior to having contact with children in a job-related capacity and maintain that status throughout employment. This includes completing any necessary training and adhering to all reporting obligations as defined by applicable laws and tribal policies.
 

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

Education and/or Experience: 

 

  • Associates degree (A.A.) from a two-year College or University in Education, Employment, Business, Social Services or Human Services or relate field WITH
    • One (1) year of professional experience preferred.

OR

  • High School graduate or equivalent WITH
    • Two (2) years of professional experience working in Education, Employment, Business, Social Services or Human Services field.

OR

  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent, relevant combination of education/experience in a related field. 


Other Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases. Computer testing in desired skills may be a requirement during the interview process.  Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to work independently and possess strong organizational and time management skills as multiple projects, events, and client requests will occur simultaneously. Possess customer service skills that include keen observation, client needs assessment, listening abilities, and rapport building demeanor. The Workforce Support Specialist must exhibit compassion and sensitivity toward each client’s sociological, economic, cultural, religious, and preferential backgrounds. 

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
