Tribal Election Board Announces Unofficial Referendum Results

Casino Expansion Project

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe held a referendum on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the lobby of the Community Tribal Building to consider the expansion of the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. The voters considered the question, "Do you support the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's expansion project at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino?"

Voter turnout was 591 voters with 93 absentee ballots received before the noon deadline. The unofficial results reported by the Tribal Election Board was 391 votes for, 286 against and 7 void ballots, the unofficial results for the April 30, 2011 referendum.

The Tribal Election Board will officially certify the referendum results after a five-day period, pending any appeals, and announce the official results as soon as they are certified.
