The purpose of the Education Committee (“the Committee”) is to serve as an advisory body to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council (“the Tribal Council”) on matters related to education policy, access, student support, and community priorities.
The Committee shall:
- Review and assess educational issues affecting the community;
- Engage with educational institutions to advocate for the needs and priorities of Akwesasne students;
- Facilitate community input and consultation on education related matters;
- Promote culturally responsive and trauma informed educational practices; and
- Provide recommendations to the Tribal Council to support improved educational outcomes.
