Tribal Police Investigate Apparent Suicide

On October 30, 2011 at approximately 6:45 p.m. the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department was notified of a missing person by the name of Hunter A. Deer. A short time later, Tribal Police were dispatched to 1622 State Route 37, Akwesasne (Hogansburg), to the Log Cabin Gas Station. Upon arrival a family member informed Tribal Police that they had found a male with an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.

The deceased male was found approximately 100 feet east of Beaver Meadow Rd toward the rear of the property of the Log Cabin Gas Station. At 8:10 p.m. the Franklin County Coroner Brian Langdon pronounced Hunter A. Deer to be deceased. An autopsy performed by Mr. Langdon revealed the cause of death was a result of a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Tribal Police continue to investigate the death.
