Public Notice - Final Draft of the Hotel Occupancy Fee Ordinance

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Compliance Department has put forth the Final Draft of the HOTEL OCCUPANCY FEE ORDINANCE.

Summary of Final Draft:

• There shall be a requirement to obtain a permit to offer any rooms for rent for any duration.
• There will be an initial application fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) for a permit.
• The Occupancy Fee rate shall be assessed at ten dollars ($10.00) per room for each day of occupancy.
• No Occupancy Fee shall be is imposed on the any Onkwehonwe (Tribal member, First nations member or Band members) who provide their membership card as proof of being Onkwehonwe.
• The Occupancy Fees will be utilized to assist in the education and recreation of membership of the SRMT.

Copies of the Final Draft, as well as a summary of the comments received during the public comment period can be obtained at the Community Building, from the Public Information Office or the Compliance Department.

This notice commences the final public review period and shall expire on August 1, 2013, whereupon a Tribal Council Resolution to adopt the Final Draft will be presented to Tribal Council for approval at their regularly scheduled Work Session on August 6, 2013.
