Bridge Closure Planned Tuesday Night for Paving

Traffic to Kawehno:ke will be Closed from North and South
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe are informing the community that the Seaway International Bridge Corporation is paving the interim-Port-of-Entry compound in Cornwall beginning on June 16, 2014. The work will be completed during the night, with one full closure of the bridge crossing planned on Tuesday, June 17 from 11:00 p.m. to Wednesday June 18 at 5:00 a.m.
During this overnight bridge closure, NO TRAFFIC except emergency vehicles will be allowed to Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) from either direction for a period of six hours. Traffic will be allowed to leave the island only if they are heading south to the U.S.
Community members should plan accordingly for the closure. Should you experience an emergency of any kind due to this closure please call the police or ambulance immediately.
Should inclement weather delay the closure Tuesday night, it will take place on Wednesday night instead.
