Tribal Council Announces Availability of Draft 2017 Annual Tribal Budget

AKWESASNE — In accordance with the Tribal Procedures Act adopted by referendum on June 1, 2013; the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council shall provide financial accountability by holding a presentation and explanation to the membership on the Annual Tribal Budget. The Tribal Council has announced a presentation of the Draft 2017 Annual Tribal Budget will take place at a public meeting to be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Kentenhkó:wa/November 15, 2016 in the Community Building Lobby.

Prior to the tribal budget’s development, a special meeting was held on Ohiarí:ha/June 15, 2016 as part of the 2017 budget process. The special meeting provided consultation and sought input from tribal members on ways to improve revenues, operating efficiencies, program enhancements and the overall budget. The feedback from membership has contributed to the budget’s development that will be presented on Kentenhkó:wa/November 15th.

In advance of the Kentenhkó:wa/November 15th budget presentation, tribal members can obtain a copy of the Draft 2017 Annual Tribal Budget to review. Copies are available to pick-up from the main reception desk located in the Community Building Lobby beginning on Kentenhkó:wa/November 1st.

Following the Kentenhkó:wa/November 15th presentation, tribal members will have fifteen (15) days to provide written comments and concerns about the Draft 2017 Annual Tribal Budget. Upon receipt of written comments, a second public meeting will be held to respond to any feedback received.

Tribal Members are encouraged to attend the Kentenhkó:wa/November 15th public meeting to receive information regarding the Annual Tribal Budget.
