Jun 16, 2017

AKWESASNE -- The Lewis County’s Economic Development Office hosted a Business Leader’s Breakfast on Ohiari:ha/June 13, 2017 in Lyons Falls, NY where Mohawk Networks, LLC were invited as guest speakers to share the deployment timeline of the $6.4 million Empire State Development Round 2 Grant, received in March 2017. The project will deliver wireless, high speed Internet to Lewis County, an area defined as unserved by Governor Cuomo’s New NY Broadband Program. The Mohawk Networks team shared their dedication to the Broadband expansion in Lewis County, recognizing customers who validated the proof of concept over the past year, including business customers.

Allyson Doctor, Interim CEO, shared, “Executing the New NY Broadband Round 2 grant allows North Country Broadband to deliver high speed Internet to the unserved households and businesses in Lewis County. We are in the pre-construction phase, which includes RFP’s, final designs, right of way approvals from the County, and permitting. Construction-deployment phase will begin as soon as approvals are finalized.” In attendance from Mohawk Networks were Claudia Tarbell, Sales & Marketing and Ryan Thompson, low-voltage Sales Engineer.

Mohawk Networks is completing the radio frequency analysis of the area and utilizing existing towers to start meeting the needs of more than 3,600 households. North Country Broadband, a subsidiary of Mohawk Networks, recently installed services at the Economic Development Office in Lowville, NY. Brittany Berrus, Marketing, reported “We are officially connected to Broadband - it’s fast and we are impressed with the download speed. Broadband is helping us to work more efficiently.”
