5 New COVID-19 Cases, 15 Active Cases Remain

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is announced that five (5) new active cases of COVID-19 were reported over the weekend, making the total number of active cases fifteen (15) under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Eighty-four (84) individuals are in quarantine at home and following guidance from a public health official.

A total of 4,087 tests have been conducted by the Tribe through its testing contracts with Mountain Medical Services, Massena Hospital, and at the Tribe’s Health Services. It includes community members and non-member employees of local businesses and schools who placed their safety, as well as their family and the Akwesasne community, as a priority.

An additional COVID-19 Drive-Thru Test Collection Clinic will be held tomorrow on Tuesday, November 24th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the former-IGA Building in Akwesasne, located at 850 Route 37. The test collection is free for all Akwesasne residents and non-member employees of local businesses and schools

The above individuals may also able to schedule an appointment to receive a COVID-19 Test by contacting Mountain Medical Services at: (518) 521-3322 in Malone or (315) 705-0700 in Massena. Individuals must call ahead to schedule an appointment — Do not drive to test site without an appointment. Please bring identification.

Direct Exposure Safety Measures

If you have had a direct exposure and not exhibiting symptoms, please wait 5 to 7 days before receiving a COVID-19 test. This will prevent the likelihood of a false negative result however, please quarantine at home while waiting for results. A public health official will notify you of test results 2 to 3 days after being tested.

If you do have symptoms, immediately contact your healthcare provider for testing. Any individual who receives a positive test result, must isolate at home separate from other members of your household. Other family members in the same household will quarantine.

If you received instructions to quarantine, please remain at home for the full 14 days, as symptoms may appear up to 14 days after exposure to the virus. A public health representative will contact you each day for a wellness check and to provide guidance.

As community spread is continuing to take place, individuals are asked to please be compassionate and to treat everyone as if they are positive.
