Name Change Referendum Deadlines & Reminders

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is reminding tribal members about upcoming deadlines and dates to keep in mind for the November 14th Name Change Referendum:

OCTOBER 26, 2020: Absentee Ballot Dropbox Available — secure ballot box will be available at the Ionkwakiohkwaró:ron Tribal Administration Building front entrance on Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

OCTOBER 28, 2020: Third Public Meeting — commences at 6:00 p.m. and will includes a recap of presentations and answers provided to questions posed. A portion of the meeting will be afforded to the Tribal Election Board to share referendum voting information. The meeting link and call-in number is available on the Tribal Members Portal at www.srmt-nsn.gov.

NOVEMBER 6, 2020: Request Absentee Ballot Deadline — available for tribal members who do not wish to vote in-person and can be requested by calling the Tribal Clerk’s Office at (518) 358-2272. Deadline to request an absentee ballot is 12:00 p.m (Noon).

-----Eligible Voter Verification Deadline — no changes will be made to the eligible voters list after 4:00 p.m. To verify your eligibility to vote, please contact the Tribal Clerk’s Office at (518) 358-2272.

NOVEMBER 9-10, 2020: Early Voting — 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ionkwakiohkwaró:ron Tribal Administration Building. Please follow all COVID-19 Protective Measures.

NOVEMBER 13, 2020: In-Home Voting — 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment only by calling the Tribal Clerk’s Office in advance at (518) 358-2272.

-----Absentee Ballot Dropbox Deadline — last day to drop off absentee ballot at the Ionkwakiohkwaró:ron Tribal Administration Building front entrance by 4:30 p.m.

NOVEMBER 14, 2020: Referendum Voting —9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ionkwakiohkwaró:ron Tribal Administration Building. Please follow all COVID-19 Protective Measures.

-----Absentee Ballot Mailing Deadline — all absentee ballots must be received by 11:30 a.m. via EB Post Office Box.
