Tribe’s EOC Reports 5 New Active Cases, 20 Total Active

Nov 9, 2020

AKWESASNE --- The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting five (5) new active cases of COVID-19 since its last update on Friday, November 6, 2020. The new cases bring the total number of active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction to 20, with one (1) case recovering over the weekend.

Some of the active cases include tribal members who live off-territory but have close connections to the Akwesasne community through work or family. Those cases are included in the EOC’s figures, but it does not include cases transferred to and reported by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne.

The Tribe’s EOC is continuing to ask everyone to be considerate and compassionate towards anyone undergoing isolation or quarantine. They are placing the community’s safety as a priority and we wish them all a safe and speedy recovery.

Individuals who are contacted by a public health official during the contact tracing process are asked to cooperate and be honest in their responses. The health and safety of other individuals is dependent upon the answers you provide.

For individuals who are ordered to isolate or quarantine, the EOC asks that you comply with guidance being provided. A healthcare worker will contact you each day for a wellness check, as well as to let you know when you are released.

Due to the recent increase in cases, please refrain from social gatherings and follow all safety measures being issued by the EOC or public health agencies. Wear a mask. Social distance. Wash your hand often. And, stay home if you are sick.

A COVID-19 drive-thru clinic resumes tomorrow, November 10th at the former-IGA Building from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until supplies last. One more will be held on Tuesday, November 17th during the same time and location.

Akwesasne residents and non-member employees of local businesses and schools may also schedule a test by contacting Massena Hospital at (315) 769-4321, or Mountain Medical Services at (518) 521-3322 in Malone or (315) 705-0700 in Massena.

Please remember our entire community is in this together, but it will take each of us making responsible decisions and practicing protective measures to ensure we all remain heathy and safe.
