SRMT Reports Two New Active COVID-19 Cases

Nov 12, 2020

AKWESASNE --- The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting two (2) new cases of COVID-19, which includes one (1) case being transferred to the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne due the individual’s residency. Six (6) active cases have resolved since the EOC’s last report on November 10th.

The two (2) new cases make fourteen (14) active cases total, which includes ten (10) residents under the Tribe’s jurisdiction and four (4) who live off-territory. They are included in the Tribe’s figures due to their strong connection to the community for work, school, or family.

We wish everyone undergoing isolation or quarantine a safe and speedy recovery. With community transmissions taking place, the risk for anyone to contract the virus remains high, so please be compassionate and follow all recommended safety protocols.

Due to the unprecedented community spread; please stay in your immediate household’s bubble, wear a mask in public places, maintain at least 6-feet distance from others, and wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer. Please avoid places or gatherings where there are no safety measures.

As a reminder, all Akwesasne residents and non-member employees of local businesses and schools may schedule a free COVID-19 test by contacting Massena Hospital at (315) 769-4321, or Mountain Medical Services at (518) 521-3322 in Malone or (315) 705-0700 in Massena.

There will be an additional drive-thru clinic on Tuesday, November 17th, from 9:00 a.m. until supplies last, at the former-IGA Building in Akwesasne.

Stopping the spread of COVID-19 in Akwesasne is possible, but only if we each do our part.
