3 Individuals Under COVID-19 Quarantine Requirement

Jul 19, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting three (3) individuals in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. The quarantines result from contact with a positive COVID-19 case. They are the first quarantines reported in 42 days and shows that the COVID-19 virus is still present and poses a threat — particularly as the more contagious Delta variant is now racing across the country and creating new outbreaks among unvaccinated individuals.

Individuals are still urged to protect themselves by getting vaccinated. While it’s true that individuals are likely to experience common side effects after getting vaccinated; including fatigue, fever and muscle soreness; those symptoms disappear after a few days and rarely merit hospitalization, according to the CDC. Contracting COVID-19 however, poses significant long-term side effects that can include neurological damage, fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath and joint pain.

Individuals may attend the Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic being held every Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. If you have any questions about vaccine clinics being conducted by Health Services please call (518) 333-0230.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services also announced individuals can receive a COVID-19 vaccination during their normally scheduled medical appointment. Some early symptoms of COVID-19 are diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or possible loss of taste or smell.
