SRMT EOC Reports 0 New COVID-19 Cases, 14 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services is reporting zero (0) new cases of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne. Zero (0) individuals are being hospitalized, while two (2) individuals have been released from isolation today -- leaving fourteen (14) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. One (1) individual was transferred to another public health department due to their living address. Around twenty-one (21) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home and following public health guidance. We extend them all our best wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.

The Delta COVID-19 Variant is more dangerous and is spreading easier to children as well as adults than previous variants. Getting vaccinated is our strongest defense and is the best thing we can all do to help protect the children in our community who are too young to receive the vaccine.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is holding the next Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic on Wednesday, August 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. Individuals can also schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine by calling Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services at (518) 358-3141.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is also conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road follow the signs for testing garage.

Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
