SRMT EOC Reports 1 New COVID-19 Case, 15 Total Active

Aug 13, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services is reporting one (1) new case of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne. One (1) individual is being hospitalized, while zero (0) individuals have been released from isolation since yesterday -- leaving fifteen (15) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Twenty-one (21) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home and following public health guidance. We extend them all our best wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.

Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, mask wearing is highly advised, and is still mandatory for those who are not fully vaccinated. Please remember to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and practice social distancing (6ft apart) if you aren’t fully vaccinated.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services strongly urges anybody who is eligible to get vaccinated. Children under 12 years of age are not eligible, and are depending on adults to get vaccinated and protect them. The new Delta variant seems to be affecting children just as much as it is adults, creating an even greater concern for our youth.
