SRMT EOC Reports 1 New COVID-19 Case, 8 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services is reporting one (1) new case of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne. No individuals were released from isolation since yesterday -- leaving eight (8) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Six (6) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home and following public health guidance. We extend them all our best wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.

As a reminder, Salmon River Central School students between the ages of 12 to 17-years old should receive their first dose, or Prime shot, of the Pfizer vaccine by tomorrow, August 11th in order to be fully vaccinated by the first day of school on September 7th. A second dose, or Booster shot, should be administered 21 days after (August 31st) to reach the full efficacy rate of 95% by Day 28 (September 7th).

To help get students and others vaccinated, Health Services is holding an Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic tomorrow on Wednesday, August 11th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. Individuals can also schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine by calling Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services at (518) 358-3141.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is also conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road follow the signs for testing garage.

Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
