SRMT EOC Reports 2 New COVID-19 Cases, 6 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services are reporting two (2) new cases of COVID-19 — making six (6) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. There is no update on the 12 family members and friends still in quarantine at home and following guidance from public health. We appreciate their cooperation to stay at home to prevent any further spread and wish them all a safe recovery.

If you are in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction and require basic food items, please contact the Office of the Family Advocate at (518) 358-3021. During today’s radio talk show on CKON 97.3fm; leadership and health representatives from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe joined in sharing important information on the importance of getting the COVID-19 Vaccine. Community members are encouraged to watch the talk show on MCA’s and SRMT’s Facebook pages, which includes responses to questions from the community. COVID-19 VACCINATIONS:

The Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is holding an Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, with parent/guardian presence required for minors. This is the only time for walk-in vaccinations.

To receive a COVID-19 vaccination directly at Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services, individuals must schedule an appointment in advance by calling (518) 358-3141.

Community members who received vaccinations outside of Akwesasne are asked to call the Outreach Program at (518) 333-0230 to have it documented with SRMT Health Services. Documenting vaccinations locally is an important way to help track and build community immunity.

COVID-19 TESTING:

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road follow the signs for testing garage.

Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
