SRMT EOC Reports 4 New COVID-19 Cases, 22 Quarantined

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services are reporting four (4) new cases of COVID-19 — making nine (9) total active cases in the southern portion of Akwesasne. We are pleased to report that one community member has resolved however, 22 family members and friends are in quarantine. We wish them all a safe recovery and ask that they please stay at home and follow all guidance from public health.

With the more severe and highly infectious Delta Variant, it is extremely important that individuals in isolation or quarantine remain at home to prevent any community spread. Please monitor for symptoms that include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea. If any of these symptoms develop, please contact your healthcare provider.

Being in isolation or quarantine can be a difficult process, but trained staff at the SRMT Mental Health Services are available to provide support. If you or a loved one need someone to talk to, please contact Mental Health at (518) 358-3145 or call their After-Hours Crisis Center at (518) 651-4475. It is okay to not be okay, and there is always someone here to help.

Those individuals under the Tribe’s jurisdiction who are in isolation or quarantine that require basic food items, please contact the Office of the Family Advocate at (518) 358-3021. They are here to help you through your recovery.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road and follow the signs for testing garage.

Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
