Sep 3, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services reported four (4) new COVID-19 cases yesterday and one (1) new positive case today. We are pleased that seven (7) individuals have been released from isolation however, nine (9) total active cases remain under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. There are 27 family members and friends in quarantine at home following public health guidance. We with them all the very best for a safe and complication-free recovery. We’re also asking everyone to please remember that we are all still in this together.

For the 9 total active cases in Akwesasne’s southern portion; seven (7) are adults and two (2) are children. Three (3) of the active cases are vaccinated individuals, which highlights that anyone can still contract the virus. Being vaccinated however, there is a reduced likelihood of individuals developing severe symptoms that may require hospitalization. Please get vaccinated to protect yourself!

For individuals who have received quarantine orders or suspect exposure to a positive case, please stay home until you are released by a public health representative. Please self-monitor for symptoms and cooperate with the contact tracing process. It is very important that telephone calls from public health are answered and honest responses are provided. You have a vital role in isolating the virus to prevent any further spread that may impact vulnerable segments of Akwesasne, such as our children and elders.

To keep yourself and others safe from COVID-19, please take the following protective measures:

  • Please get vaccinated as soon as possible,
  • Please wear a mask in all public places,
  • Please practice social distancing,
