SRMT EOC Reports Zero New COVID-19 Cases: 18 Total Active
Oct 13, 2021
AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Health Services reported no new positive COVID-19 cases today in Akwesasne’s southern portion, which is the first time since August 25th that no new cases were reported. They are pleased that 1 (one) community member has been released from isolation however, there remain 18 total active cases and one (1) hospitalization under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. There are eight (8) family members and friends in quarantine to prevent any further community spread. We wish them all a safe recovery.
The Tribe’s EOC was informed that hospitals in our immediate area are at capacity, so please plan accordingly. This is due to workforce shortage and increasing cases of COVID-19, particularly the spread of the Delta Variant that has resulted in growing rates of community transmission in areas with low vaccination rates. For anyone seeking medical attention, it may result in longer wait times or being transported to an alternate medical facility for treatment.
Contact tracers continue to be busy following-up on exposures and providing notifications, but if you suspect exposure to a positive case please self-quarantine and monitor your symptoms. Self-monitor for diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or loss of taste or smell. If any of these develop, please call your healthcare provider for guidance. Do not drive to the clinic or hospital without calling ahead of time.
As a reminder, please treat everyone as if they are positive, wear a mask in all public places, wash your hands often, avoid large gatherings and uncontrolled environments where there are no safety measures, social distance, stay in your immediate bubble, and stay home if you are sick.
