Tribe’s EOC Continues to Report Zero COVID-19 Cases

Jun 9, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is continuing to report no new cases, no active cases, and no individuals in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Once more, we extend a huge appreciation to the Akwesasne community for following all the protective measures that remain in place. No reported cases is an indication that what you are doing is working, so please wear a mask in public indoor spaces, practice social distancing, and wash hand often.

An Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic is being held every Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. If you have any questions about clinics being conducted by SRMT Health Services please call (518) 333-0230.

Individuals who are 18 years and older and receive the Moderna Vaccine will be entered into a drawing to win prizes: including a 70” Flat Screen TV, $250 BJ’s Gift Card, or a 1-Night Stay in Lake Placid with Zipline tickets! Those who receive the COVID-19 vaccine will also get a voucher for a FREE Sub, courtesy of Subway located in the Speedway Plaza at 935 State Route 37. All minors 12 to 17-year-olds who receive the Pfizer Vaccine will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Apple Gift Card. A new drawing will be held each week.

The first prize drawing was held today for individuals who received their Pfizer Vaccine, with the first being one of two $250 Apple Gift Cards for 12 to 17yr olds. Congratulations to Nikanonnya:a Green, 15, for being our very first winner and for taking your shot at protecting yourself and the Akwesasne community. We're very proud of you!

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or while test kits last, at their main campus located at 404 State Route 37 in Akwesasne, NY. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road. The drive-thru format is open for all community members and employees of the Tribe, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne businesses, and local school districts.

Indoor Mask Requirement Remains in Effect

Regardless of vaccination status, individuals are still required to wear a mask in all public indoor places within the Tribe’s jurisdiction, including at local businesses and workplaces. Until more community members get vaccinated, people are still encouraged to wear masks when social distancing is not possible, as it is an important safety measure to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Wearing a mask also helps protect those who cannot receive the vaccine due to age or health condition, as well as practicing social distancing, and washing your hands frequently with soap and water or using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

If you have a non-emergency matter, please call the Emergency Operations Center at (518) 320-0019; Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
