Tribe’s EOC Reports 1 New COVID-19 Case: 54 Quarantined

Jan 15, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting one (1) new case of COVID-19 today, which makes 17 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. We are pleased that six (6) of our relatives have resolved since yesterday, leaving 54 family members and friends in quarantine. We continue to extend them our best wishes for a safe and speedy recovery.

As vaccinations continue in accordance with the CDC’s recommended guidelines, we ask those who will soon receive the vaccine to please be thoughtful. The vaccine’s purpose is to protect our community, particularly our most vulnerable members — our elders. It’s not intended to let individuals take vacations or other non-essential trips, nor does it allow you to no longer follow the safety protocols that are still being highly recommended.

The vaccine only prevents the development of severe symptoms. It does not prevent you from contracting the virus and transmitting it to others. For that reason, if you have been vaccinated or not, everyone must continue to place the overall health and safety of our community as a priority. Please continue to wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands, and stay in your immediate household’s bubble.

As a reminder, if you have received orders to quarantine or isolate, you MUST remain at home until you are officially released by a public health official. Please DO NOT travel in the community and place other people’s health at risk. If you need emergency food supplies or other essential items, please call the Tribe’s Office of the Family Advocate at (518) 358-3021. You may also call their staff directly at:

Everett Lazore, Family Advocate — (518) 333-8450 Kerry Jacobs, Victim Advocate — (518) 651-9150 Crystal Stehlin, Junior Advocate — (518) 651-1435
