Tribe’s EOC Reports 6 New COVID-19 Cases: 44 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting six (6) new cases of COVID-19 today— making 44 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Two relatives have resolved and one (1) community member remains hospitalized due to symptoms. There are 26 family members and friends in quarantine at home, as contact tracing continues to be conducted. Please answer the call and provide honest answers if you are contacted by public health officials.

If you have received isolation or quarantine orders, please remain at home and do not travel in the community. This will help prevent any further spread of the virus and protect our community’s vulnerable populations. If you are in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction and require emergency food or other essential items, please contact the Office of the Family Advocate at (518) 358-3021. For those who suspect they’ve been in direct contact with a positive case and awaiting notification from health officials, please self-quarantine and self-monitor for early symptoms: such as diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or possible loss of taste or smell. The next COVID-19 community drive-thru test collection will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd at the former-IGA Building beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., or while test supplies last. Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a test by calling Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or their Massena facility at (315) 705-0700. These are FREE PCR tests however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at an individual’s expense. Please wait seven (7) days after exposure to get tested to prevent a false negative test result.
