Tribe’s EOC Reports Spike in COVID-19 Cases: 8 New Cases

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported a spike in COVID-19 cases today, with eight (8) new cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. The total number of positive cases reported since the pandemic started has now surpassed 100, with 103 total cases since March 28, 2020.

There are now twelve (12) active cases and 45 of our family and friends remain in isolation or quarantine at home. We are pleased that six (6) of our relatives have successfully resolved over the weekend, The EOC extends is best wishes for a speedy recovery to those who are still in quarantine and following public health guidance. Please remain at home until you are released by a public health official.

Please remain vigilant during the spike and follow all the safety protocols being recommended by the EOC and public health agencies. You may not feel sick or be exhibiting symptoms, but you can still transmit the virus. For that reason, we are asking everyone to please avoid uncontrolled gatherings where no masks are being worn, where no social distancing is being followed, nor other safety measures that are intended to keep you and others safe.

VACCINE SIGNUPS:

Seniors residing on the southern portion of Akwesasne can call the Tribe’s Office for the Aging to pre-register to receive the vaccine. You need to provide your name, date of birth, and phone number. A provider from Health Services will contact you to complete a health screening and schedule your appointment. To pre-register, call the Office for the Aging at (518) 358-2963.

As more vaccines becomes available, more groups will be notified for the opportunity to get vaccinated. COMMUNITY TESTING:

Additional COVID-19 drive-thru test collection clinics have been scheduled for January 12th, 13th, 19th and 26th beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the former-IGA Building. In the meantime, community members and Akwesasne employees may continue to schedule an appointment by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700.

For anyone seeking to obtain their COVID-19 results for a test conducted by Health Services or its mass testing providers, please call the clinic’s new direct line at (518) 333-0230.
