Jun 2, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 and one (1) community member was released from isolation today — leaving one (1) total active case in Akwesasne southern portion. Three (3) family members and friends remain in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. We wish them a safe recovery and ask everyone to please get vaccinated when you have the opportunity.

Community members who received their COVID-19 vaccination away from Akwesasne are asked to call the Tribe’s Outreach Program at (518) 358-3141 to have it documented with Health Services. Documenting vaccinations locally is an important way to help track and build community immunity.

COVID-19 TEST COLLECTION CLINICS

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or while test kits last, at their main campus located at 404 State Route 37 in Akwesasne, NY. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road. The drive-thru format is open for all community members and employees of the Tribe, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne businesses, and local school districts. Please note that individuals who are awaiting test results cannot receive a vaccination.

MASK REQUIREMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT

The Emergency Operations Center is reminding community members and guests that despite NYS and the CDC easing its guidance; masks must still be worn where they are required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulation. As a result, individuals are still required to properly wear a mask in all public places within the Tribe’s jurisdiction, including at local businesses and workplaces.

Until more people get vaccinated, it is still important to maintain safety measures to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. These precautions help protect those who cannot receive the vaccine due to age or health condition and include wearing a face mask, practicing social distancing, and washing your hands frequently with soap and water or using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

If you have a non-emergency matter, please call the Emergency Operations Center at (518) 320-0019; Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
