Tribe’s EOC Reports Zero New COVID-19 Cases: 2 Total Active

May 19, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center stated there is no change in the numbers that were reported yesterday. There are no new cases of COVID-19 today — leaving two (2) active cases in the southern portion of Akwesasne. No community members have resolved and five (5) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home. We wish them all a safe and complication-free recovery.

The Tribe’s fight to overcome COVID-19 has not been won yet, but with each vaccination we are one step closer to resuming the activities and events that we all enjoyed before the pandemic. As a result, we are asking everyone to please get vaccinated when you have the opportunity. Being vaccinated protects yourself, your family, and other community members who cannot receive the vaccine.

COVID-19 WALK-IN VACCINATION CLINICS

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting a Walk-in Vaccine Clinics every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. The walk-in clinic is open for all individuals 18-years or older who are interested in receiving their first dose (Prime) of the Moderna Vaccine. If you are a college student, please check your school’s vaccination requirement to attend in Fall 2021.

Individuals who are 18 years and older who choose to be vaccinated will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes: including a 70” Flat Screen TV, $250 BJ’s Gift Cards, and a 1-Night Stay in Lake Placid with Zipline tickets! Those who choose to receive the COVID-19 vaccine will also receive a voucher for a FREE Sub, courtesy of Subway located in the Speedway Plaza at 935 State Route 37.

For 16 and 17-year-olds who are interested in receiving the Pfizer Vaccine, please contact Health Services to schedule an appointment by calling (518) 333-0230. Parents with children ages 12 to 15 years old can also sign up and be contacted when Pfizer becomes available for this age group. Please leave your name and phone number. A parent must be present for the appointment and once vaccinated, minors will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Apple Gift Card.

Community members who received their COVID-19 vaccine away from Akwesasne are asked to call the Tribe’s Outreach Program at (518) 358-3141 to have your vaccination documented with Health Services. Documenting vaccinations locally is an important way to help track and build community immunity.

COVID-19 TEST COLLECTION CLINICS

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or while test kits last, at their main campus located at 404 State Route 37 in Akwesasne, NY. Their new testing facility is located between the Tribe’s Food Distribution and Maintenance Garage. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road. The drive-thru format is open for all community members and employees of the Tribe, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne businesses, and local school districts.

MASK REQUIREMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT

The Emergency Operations Center is reminding community members and guests that despite NYS and the CDC easing its guidance on mask wearing, the EOC’s mask directive remains in effect within the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Individuals are still required to properly wear a mask in all public places, businesses, and other locations where maintaining a safe social distance of six (6) feet is not possible.

EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER

If you have a non-emergency matter, please call the Emergency Operations Center at (518) 320-0019; Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
