2023 FISU World University Games Torch Coming to Akwesasne

AKWESASNE – On Monday, Tsiothóhrha/December 19, 2022; the Akwesasne community will continue its longstanding efforts to promote and celebrate the message of peace and friendship through international competition. Akwesasne has been selected as one of fifteen locations in New York State to host a symbolic torch relay for the Lake Placid 2023 World University Games. Torchbearers will include senior student athletes from the Salmon River Central School District and the Massena Central School District, who have excelled athletically and academically. Members of the community and media are welcomed to cheer them on as they carry the torch from Generations Park to the St. Regis Mohawk School for a brief ceremony.
