INTERN SPOTLIGHT - Dylan Lazore, Human Resources Department Intern

(The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is proud to provide employment opportunities for high school and college students through the Department of Education’s Summer Youth and Career Internship Employment Program. To help report on this initiative, we are proud to share the following information on work summer students are doing through their internships, which provides placement in areas specific to their chosen career path.)

Dylan, 19, is the son of Charity and Wayne Lazore. He will be a sophomore at St. Johns Fisher University this fall in Rochester, NY; where he studies Sports Management and plays on the university's football team. His hobbies include playing lacrosse, working out, and jokingly he added sleeping.

When Dylan was interviewed for this spotlight and asked what teamwork meant to him, he replied, “Teamwork is being able to cooperate with your team to complete a task in a timely and efficient manner.” Well, this summer Dylan is interning within one of the most efficiently run teams as the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe as a member of the Human Resources Department.

Dylan is learning the ins-and-outs of working in their office and the responsibilities that come with Human Resources. He helps with filing documents, reviewing HR policies, and assisting with maintaining corporate payroll, amongst other duties. When asked why he chose Human Resources for his summer internship, he noted that the department’s presentation at the job fair revealed its tie to his future career aspirations and how it will boost his resume.

Dylan believes being in a professional work environment will help him gain access to knowledge and mentorship from his coworkers in a manner that will help him succeed in the future. As a worker, Dylan is already hard working, diligent, and focused -- often doing things over and over until he can do them right is an important part of his work process and his determination to succeed.

In his free time, Dylan enjoys relaxing and listening to music. His thee (3) favorite songs are “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift, “Wusyaname” by Tyler The Creator, and “Temptation” by Joey Bada$$.
