SRMT Issues Cease and Desist Orders to 6 Unlicensed Cannabis Operations

Mar 18, 2022

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is aware of additional unlicensed and unregulated marijuana operations under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Pursuant to Tribal Council Resolution 2021-33 “SRMT Adult Use Cannabis Ordinance”, these illegal establishments have been issued Cease and Desist Orders based upon their non-compliance with tribal law.

In response, the SRMT Compliance Department is providing notification that the following non-compliant marijuana retail operations have been issued a Cease and Desist Order on Enniskó:wa/March 14, 2022: Marijuana World, Budda Bing, Roach Coach, Premier Cannabis, Cannabis Island, and Wacky Tobacky.

The Adult Use Marijuana Ordinance stipulates that any person(s) that engages in the sale or any commercial activity involving recreational marijuana prior to obtaining a tribal license will be found in violation of tribal law and subject to enforcement action.

As a result, these non-tribal regulated and non-compliant establishments have been ordered to immediately cease operations. Individuals are asked to please refrain from patronizing these illegal operations for your own health and safety, as product safety cannot be guaranteed.

We continue to appreciate the cooperation and compliance of business owners that are working within the framework of the SRMT Adult Use Cannabis Ordinance; which was developed in consultation with tribal members to diversify our local economy, provide employment, and generate needed revenue for community programs and services that we all enjoy.
