AKWESASNE -- The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Clerk is providing notice to tribal members that a 30-day comment period is now open regarding the proposed adoption of a Business Organizations Ordinance (“Ordinance”). The ordinance will allow Tribal members to form for-profit corporations and non-profit organizations under Tribal law.
The Ordinance is now available for Tribal members to view on the Tribal Members Portal, which is located on the Tribe’s website at www.srmt-nsn.gov. The document is also available upon request from the Tribal Clerk’s Office or Office of the General Counsel by calling (518) 358-2272, as well as available for pickup at the Ionkwakiohkwaronon Tribal Administration Building’s main reception desk.
Comments can be submitted in writing or during a meeting and must be received by Friday, November 26th. They can be emailed to the Tribal Clerk at public.comment@srmt-nsn.gov or mailed to:

Once the comments have been reviewed, the final draft ordinance will be posted once more for tribal members to review. After that period has closed, the Tribal Council shall sign the legislation into law by tribal council resolution.
The date and time for a virtual presentation of the Business Organizations Ordinance is being scheduled and will be announced in a future notice.
