Akwesasne - (Tsiothóhrha/December 8, 2025) The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council welcomed New York State Senator Daniel G. Stec and Community Liaison for Senator Stec, Andrea Dumas, to Akwesasne for a tour of the St. Regis Mohawk School and productive discussions on the priorities and challenges facing the Tribe and the Akwesasne community at large. Topics covered included the new elementary school capital project, challenges facing Akwesasro:non college and university students, law enforcement collaboration and border security issues, and the implementation of Land Claim Settlement with the Counties in preparation and planning once approved by the federal government. Senator Stec represents the NYS Senate District 45, which covers a large part of the North Country and Capital District, including all of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Warren Counties, and parts of St. Lawrence County and Washington County. Senator Stec is the Ranking Minority Senator on the Environmental Conservation and Internet and Technology Committees and serves on State-Native American Relations and Veterans, Health, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs Committees. Tribal Council looks forward to continuing its positive relationship with Senator Stec and advancing in areas of Tribal advocacy and issues.
