CALLOUT FOR TRIBAL MEMBERSHIP REVIEW WORKING GROUP (5)
The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is seeking five (5) tribal members to voluntarily serve on a working group to review the Membership survey results and amendments to the code with the Tribal Council and its advisors, and most importantly general membership for the purpose of discussing, drafting, and proposing amendments, which will include membership consultation meetings until the commencement of the amendment process under the Tribal Election and Referendum Ordinance (TCR 2023-52). The working group shall continue to consult with membership during the 90-day period before a scheduled referendum to review, explain, and obtain feedback from members on the proposed amendments.
Members of the Working Group shall be responsible to:
- Be willing and able to attend any provided orientation and/or training;
- Attend and participate in regular and special Working Group meetings;
- Correspond and meet with Tribal Council and Tribal staff to provide updates and share information on a regular basis, at minimum once a month;
- Review the background material and supporting documentation provided;
- Review the impacts of proposed amendments;
- Research, compile, review and discuss information with the Working Group;
- Attend/present to the community at public meetings;
- Maintain respect and courtesy for others, inclusive of group members, community members, Tribal Council and Tribal Staff;
- Work as a team to develop recommendations to Tribal Council to consider;
- Consult with Tribal Staff and consider provided perspectives and deliberations;
- Be responsible for attending community consultation sessions to assist in reviewing explaining the reason behind amendments to tribal membership at community meetings; and
- Maintain confidentiality of discussions during meetings.
To volunteer for the Working Group, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
- Be an enrolled member of the Tribe;
- Pass a criminal background check and drug test;
- Be of good moral character and reputation.
- Not be an employee of any of the Tribe’s departments included as advisors.
