Summary: 

The Grants Officer (GO) is responsible for providing administrative support for post-award grant administration across Tribal programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and Tribal regulations, monitors reporting requirements, maintains grant management systems and portals, and supports program staff in the successful execution of grant-funded projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Maintain familiarity with grant management processes and active grant projects.
  • Initiate and track internal approval processes for grant awards.
  • Administer organized electronic files, structure, and system.
  • Monitor grant reporting schedules, deadlines, and requirements to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Manage accounts in online grant portals for submitting reports, amendments, and other post-award documentation.
  • Maintain grant portal accounts on behalf of Tribal Council to monitor project progress.
  • Assist program staff with grant management software and troubleshoot portal-related issues.
  • Support project teams in creating reports, tables, and schedules for effective project management.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure timely submission of all required reports, amendments, and contract documents.
  • Advise program managers on policies and procedures related to expenditure reporting and compliance.
  • Support subrecipient monitoring in accordance with 2 CFR Part 200 and other applicable regulations.
  • Assist in developing grant-related policies and procedures.
  • Communicate updates on policy changes to program staff.
  • Respond to inquiries from federal and state agencies as needed.
  • Foster professional working relationships across departments and divisions.
  • Uphold SRMT's customer service standards.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, WITH
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in grant management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and experience with database systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate the development of complex documents.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Capable of interpreting instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and effective problem-solving skills in dynamic or complex scenarios.
