Summary: Under the direction of the Youth Educational Services (YES) Manager, the Summer Learning Instructor is responsible for assisting eligible/enrolled clients with the Tribal Learning Assistance Program (TLAP).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Work with the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club to plan, coordinate and implement program activities, summer learning loss programming, and a summer incentive program.
- Identify and recruit eligible students for Youth Educational Services.
- Plan course content and method of tutorial instruction specific to the youth in need.
- Track and maintain TLAP client files in accordance with PL 102-477 regulations.
- Create and provide a positive working relationship with community partners, clients and parents.
- Act as a liaison with other educational services within the Education Division and programs of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
- Monitor attendance and progress reports of clients for quarterly reporting; keep documents secured.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and final reports to the Youth Services Program Manager for the PL 102-477 Plan.
- Reports should consist of but not limited to; a list of clients, attendance, completed individual success plans, progress reports, concerns and/or accomplishments; also include any recommendations for referrals.
- Ability to input daily case notes, complete progress monitoring and client success plans through a client management system.
- Attend any and all necessary training(s).
- Chaperone and supervise clients on various educational enrichment trips, and/or activities, which provide career exploration, career exposure, and college readiness for clients.
- Ensure that safety of the students and staff are a priority.
- Exhibits leadership skills, dependability, patience, punctuality, teamwork, self-control, and enthusiasm.

Mandated Reporter: Must become a mandated reporter prior to having contact with children in a job-related capacity and maintain that status throughout employment. This includes completing any necessary training and adhering to all reporting obligations as defined by applicable laws and tribal policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities: To represent the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Education Division and Youth Services Program. Responsible for the supervision of clients in the classroom and while chaperoning field trips and students.

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or two years of undergraduate work completed is required
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree is preferred
- At least 6 months experience working with students is required.
- One year of teaching experience is preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, and experience with varying databases. Knowledge of the Haudenosaunee culture and traditions. Mohawk language is desired.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
