Tribe’s EOC Reports Zero COVID-19 Cases: 42% Vaccination Rate

AKWESASNE — For the third consecutive day, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting no new cases, no active cases, and no individuals in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Once more, the safety measures that are being followed, including mask wearing in public places, is making a difference. More importantly, the individuals who have chosen to get vaccinated are helping our community to make strides towards ending the COVID-19 Pandemic. Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services reports that 6,902 total vaccinations have been administered, as of June 10th. This includes 3,617 Primes, or first doses, provided to individuals of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. Additionally; 3,285 Boosters; or second doses, have been provided at the Wednesday Walk-in Vaccine Clinics. It represents an additional 69 community members who have become fully vaccinated in the past two (2) days. We extend them our appreciation for doing their part to keep us all safe.

COVID-19 WALK-IN VACCINE CLINICS

An Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic is being held every Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. College students are urged to check with their school’s vaccination requirement for returning to campus in the fall. Individuals who are 18 years and older and receive the Moderna Vaccine will be entered into a drawing to win prizes: including a 70” Flat Screen TV, $250 BJ’s Gift Card, or a 1-Night Stay in Lake Placid with Zipline tickets! Those who receive the COVID-19 vaccine will also get a voucher for a FREE Sub, courtesy of Subway located in the Speedway Plaza at 935 State Route 37. All minors 12 to 17-year-olds who receive the Pfizer Vaccine will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Apple Gift Card.

A drawing will be held each week, with the second $250 Apple Gift Card for the 12 to 17 age group being drawn next week, along with a $250 BJ’s Gift Card for 18yrs or older. So, please get vaccinated when you have the opportunity and don’t miss your chance to win prizes!

COVID-19 PCR TEST COLLECTION CLINICS

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road. The drive-thru format is open for all community members and employees of SRMT, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne businesses, and local school districts. Individuals should only get tested if they are exhibiting symptoms, haven’t been compliant with safety protocols, or no sooner than seven (7) days following a suspected exposure to a positive case. Some early symptoms are diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or possible loss of taste or smell.

Indoor Mask Requirement Remains in Effect

Regardless of vaccination status, individuals are still required to wear a mask in all public indoor places within the Tribe’s jurisdiction, including at local businesses and workplaces. Until more community members get vaccinated, people are still required to wear masks when social distancing is not possible, as it is an important safety measure to help prevent the spread of the virus, particularly to those who cannot get vaccinated due to a health condition or age.
