Tribe’s EOC Reports COVID-19 Outbreak: 22 New Cases, 40 Total Active

Feb 19, 2021

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19, with 22 new cases today— making 40 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. No individual has resolved since yesterday and one (1) community member remains hospitalized due to symptoms. There are 23 family members and friends in quarantine at home to prevent further community spread. Please be kind and wish them all a safe, symptom-free recovery.

The significant rise in COVID-19 cases can be the start of cases attributed to family and social gatherings held during Super Bowl Weekend. It is likely that more will be reported in the coming days, but it is strong reminder to avoid all uncontrolled gatherings where there are no safety protocols, such as no masks being worn and no social distancing being practiced. It is also an indicator that we must all remain in our own immediate household bubbles.

For those who are staying home in quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction and may require emergency food or other essential items, please contact the Office of the Family Advocate at (518) 358-3021. You may also contact their staff directly by calling Everett Lazore at (518) 333-8450, Kerry Jacobs at (518) 651-9150, or Crystal Stehlin at (518) 651-1435.

If you have a non-emergency matter, please call the Emergency Operations Center at (518) 320-0019; Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
