AKWESASNE – (Tsiothóhrha/December 15, 2025) The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council is aware of an allegation of mistreatment of a child with special needs within the Salmon River Central School District. Tribal Council is aware of multiple ongoing investigations and will work with those agencies as requested. Tribal Council commits to taking swift and decisive action to ensure accountability and corrective action(s) that may be indicated through these investigations.
Tribal Council reiterates our commitment expressed on October 17, 2025, that the safety of our children is of paramount concern and that those charged with the care of our children have a sacred responsibility for their care. We want to assure the community that we hear their concerns and fully intend to take any and all actions necessary to hold individuals accountable for any wrongdoing, and that corrective action(s) are taken to ensure this never happens again.
