Community Swimming Advisory – Lower Raquette River & Lower St. Regis River

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Water Resources Program is continuing a community-wide swimming advisory for the lower Raquette River and the lower St. Regis River, specifically downstream of the Rt. 37 Bridge/former Hogansburg Dam, effective immediately and until further notice.

Recent water quality sampling has shown that Pathogen Indicator Bacteria (PIB) concentrations remain above the SRMT Water Quality Standard for safe primary contact recreation. As a result, swimming or any direct contact with the water is strongly discouraged due to the risk of gastrointestinal illness from ingesting contaminated water.

Additional water sampling is underway. We will continue to give you timely updates as conditions change.

Community health and safety remain our highest priority!
