Environmental Assessment Public Comment Period for SRMT Transfer Station Upgrade

AKWESASNE – (Enniskó:wa / March 27, 2026) The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Environment Division is notifying community members that a 30-day Public Comment Period is being provided for expansion and renovations of the existing Transfer Station facility located at 179 CR-43 Fort Covington, NY. The SRMT Transfer Station upgrade, Phase II & III (EA 2026-01) construction is expected to begin May 2026, with completion expected December 2026.
 

Planned improvements include construction of a 5,000-square-foot building to support scale operations, office space, and equipment garage functions, along with development of approximately 41,500 square feet of new and improved site access roads and parking areas. Once expansion is completed, the site will also include expanded recycling capacity, installation of a new truck scale, construction of a stormwater management pond, and replacement of the existing septic system.
